Skagit Design Homes is owned and operated by James Eidson and his wife Angel. James has many years of construction experience. His grandfather, Tracy (Truck) Eidson, was a general contractor in Baker City, Oregon for most of his life. He passed on the carpentry trade to James’ father Jim, who was also a general contractor in Eastern Oregon. Many of the homes his father and grandfather built are still being enjoyed by residents throughout Eastern Oregon. While helping his father build, James recalls being taught to use a hammer with either hand. “I never seemed to know which hand to use, so Dad would let me work for a while with one and then he would tell me to switch, so I would. I guess he figured I had two hands, so I might as well use them both,” says James. That early training by a master craftsman still shows in his work today.

James first obtained a contractor's license over 30 years ago. Since then, he has always successfully supported himself in the construction industry. “I really don’t know what other kind of work I would rather do. It is so satisfying to build something that you know is going to last and be enjoyed for many years to come.”

Skagit Design is primarily a residential construction company. Our focus is on expanding our new home construction business in the Skagit Valley and surrounding areas. Our goal is to make it easy and affordable for you to have a new home built on your lot for a great price and avoid all of the headaches that come with being the general contractor yourself.
